Welcome to Chick it up, Pick it up. For the first post I think everyone will be thrilled to hear this early demo tape from Holland's amazing Ska Legends, MR. REVIEW! sorry about the poor sound quality. Enjoy!
Many thanks for posting those demos, they were probably the best ska band from that era...from mainland Europe anyway. Always catchy melodies and clever lyrics, Shifting Sand is a great track in particular. I had gotten some of these demos from the keyboard player whom I met in a pub in Camden Town by chance one time. He told me he was working in a radio station at the time when the band sent the demo in looking for airplay. He obviously thought it was great because he ended up joining the band!
That's amazing! I went to many of their shows in Holland. I completely agree. I think it's the songwriting which makes them so strong. The Hotknives come to mind as another great band of the era. They both got that bittersweet Ray Davies style.
Spot on! I thought 'Home' was the best 'modern' ska album of the 90s. The Hotknives had it all.. from brilliant songs to great vocals...the only thing they were missing was maybe a good manager who could take them beyond the ska scene. They deserved to be big!

Yeah, it's too bad. They left their mark though.
I never knew there was a demo from back then! Pretty cool to hear, and the sound quality isn't that bad either!
Could you please upload the second part again? It seems the link is broken.
Thanks and keep up the good work!!
